Hey Everyone!!

Guess what? This Saturday we begin our 8th week of training...which is halfway through our 16 weeks...WHOO HOO!!

This Wednesday (tomorrow) we will once again be particpating in everyone's favorite... INTERVALS and HILLS. In honor of this event, I have posted a story below on that very topic! It's from a series called "The Newbie Chronicles" and his stories make me laugh every month when I get my Runners World magazine.:-) If you want to read his entire series you can go to www.runnersworld.com/newbie .

This Saturday is the Urban Wildland Half Marathon! It begins at 7 a.m. at the Richfield Ice Arena. I can't wait to see everyone there. (At least those that are running!)

I hope you're all having a great week!

Hey All ~

I apologize for the late posting this week...I've had a crazy week!! But...it is here now:-)

We will be meeting at the parking lot in front of the Lock and Dam Number One - inbetween Minnehaha Falls and Ford Parkway. I am trying to find specific directions...but so far anything I've found seems to make finding the parking lot even more confusing...I'll keep trying, but if you have trouble finding the specific parking lot please call PJ or me on our cell phones.

Don't forget that the Urban Wildland Half Marathon is coming up next Saturday, Aug. 1. We'll be running a half-marathon on the half way point of our training....how's that for timing?!?!

Have a great Friday! We'll see you on Saturday!!

Yes...believe it or not it is time again for the run event that we all love...INTERVALS!!! AND HILLS!!!! Whoo hoo!!!

Ok - there may be a bit of sarcasm in my excitement, but as awful as running so hard that you feel like you may throw up can be...it really is a good thing for us...and I know that we all want to get stronger and faster...and so intervals it will be.

After we get all sweaty and tired we will be heading inside to learn about running shoes and clothing from Kristen, a rep from Marathon Sports. Marathon Sports is my favorite running store...everyone I've ever talked to there has been very helpful...and you always get 20% off. (And hopefully we may be getting some coupons this week as well!!!)

We will start warm-up promptly at 6pm so that we have time to finish all of our intervals before the speaker arrives. If you get stuck at work or in traffic, you can join us in Adam's Hill Park (Is that the name?) behind the YMCA. We'll do some intervals first on 73rd Ave - but will spend most of the time in the park.

And the answer is...click below to read a tounge in cheek, humorous version of why the marathon is exactly 26.2 miles!!!

See you all on Wednesday!!!

~We're  25% of the way through our 16 week training program!
~We're running 8 miles this week!
~We still haven't had all 8 of us running on the same day! (Kelly is overseas for the next two weeks - so it won't happen this week either)
~You should hold a strech for 30 seconds (or so I've been told)
~50-60% of our food intake should consistent of carbohydrates!
~We sweat 0.3 - 2.4 liters per hour! (Or so we've been told - I still don't know how they would actually measure that?!?)
~7979 people finished the Twin Cities Marathon last year!
~407,000+ people finished a marathon in 2007. The average marathon time for all Finishers was 4:41:33. The average for men was 4:29:52 and the average for women was 4:59:28. (http://www.marathonguide.com/features/Articles/2007RecapOverview.cfm)
~ The current world record marathon time for men is 2:03:59 (set in 2008) and for women is2:15:25 (set in 2003)
~PJ has run in 4 marathons since April 20!
~There are 87 days left until the Twin Cities Marathon!

And now a numbers question for you...Why is the marathon exactly 26.2 miles??? (You might be surprised at the answer...I was!)
